I may be a vegan but I do like style. Anyone know about the phrase "man made" and what, specifically, it refers to? Materials or that they were, in fact, man made. Thanks. They're terrible, they don't breathe at all, what this leads to is super smelly feet because with no air circulation in your show, all your feet does is sweat and sweat. So, I saved a cow, but have added to the landfill with shoes that are basically unwearable for any period of greater than say...2 minutes. I'm just wearing them for a desk job, so it's not like I'm running, I just sit here and they start getting all sweaty and smelly. I understand its not PC these days to deal in genuine leather but I do enjoy leathercrafting and it is a natural material. Since so many people eat the meat we might as well use the hide for something too. Vinyl shoes just arent sexy! I rather enjoyed the long reply and it gave me some points to ponder. Comment on I avoided JetBlue today by Mike Zippro http://onelittlething.org/today/2007/04/10/i-avoided-jetblue-today/#comment-13077 Sat, 02 Aug 2008 01:02:58 +0000 http://onelittlething.org/today/2007/04/10/i-avoided-jetblue-today/#comment-13077 I understand your feelings about the leather seats and I too LOVE animals. I am against using animal parts for anything unecessary! Just a thought on JetBlue's seats - Cow hides are used from slaughterd cows that are used for food - if you are a vegetarian that is no samll comfort - however, since these cows have been slaughtered, is it not best to use the hides for something rather than let them rot away? Should we not use the hides so at least there is no waste of these precious animals? We have no control over the slaughter of these animals because man will never give up eating meat - so that the animals did not die in vain (other then for the meat) why should we not use ALL PARTS so ther eis no waste of this animals life? You are aware there are many other products we as consumers use that are made from animal by-products? As much as I would prefer not using these animal products the alternative maybe polluting or planet with oil products that do not degrade - that also opens up the damage that petroleum products cause to our envirnement. No matter how you look at it - somehow, somewhere there are negative impacts no matter what we use or how we use it - it is the lesser of two evils. Use animal by products and kill thousands of animals or use other products and potentially kill millions of animals from poisoning them. Good luck in finding the best solution! Great post, I absolutely agree. Funny though how I've found it... Our 2yr old son loves the yellow fisher price boat, too. Unfortunately it's so old that it broke into peaces the other day. So I was wondering: would you or the new "owners" sell it or trade it in? Thanks for letting me know! Cheers Martin Hi there! Great post, I absolutely agree. Please join the Bicycle to Work! LinkedIn networking group. Members pledge that they will try to ride their bicycle to work or on an errand at least once a week. Although the benefits should be obvious, let me outline them here. Right now people in the industrialized world are facing two very grave problems: obesity and a growing scarcity of oil. Compounding this problem is the new food shortage brought about, in part, by the conversion of food cropland to bio-fuel crop production. Most people feel powerless to help, but there is one thing that we can do. Ride our bicycles to work. If everyone would agree to ride their bikes to work one day per week we could cut oil consumption by as much as 10-15%. No one would argue that riding a bike burns more calories than driving the car. Although popular politically right now, most bio-fuels consume more energy than they produce. We would be much better to eat those bio-crops then use our own energy to transport us around. So spread the word. Make it a movement! Bicycle to work one day a week and do your part to cut back obesity and the overuse of oil and precious cropland. Comment on What’s your biggest drain on the environment? Showering, Air Conditioning, Heating, or Lighting? by Gary C. http://onelittlething.org/today/2007/10/23/whats-your-biggest-drain-on-the-environment-showering-air-conditioning-heating-or-lighting/#comment-10823 Sat, 31 May 2008 23:06:27 +0000 http://onelittlething.org/today/2007/10/23/whats-your-biggest-drain-on-the-environment-showering-air-conditioning-heating-or-lighting/#comment-10823 Fresh water can only become scarcer and go up in price! I am in Michigan, so I am lucky to be surrounded by it, but it is still getting costly and our freshwater lakes are depleting! I do all I can to conserve water! My newest home water conservation addition is a Hot Water Lobster Instant Hot Water Valve. This thing is great! It saves a lot of water and my entire home has instant hot water! I save a lot of time not having to wait for water to heat up at my taps! I paid $179.95 off the internet for it, which seems quite reasonable! My water savings will recover it's cost in not too long. It only took my like 10 minutes to install! You can't beat that it's made in the U.S.A., has a 10-year warranty, and comes with a money back guarantee! I surely won't be returning it!
