One little thing? Please explain.
It’s easy to make the world a little better. It’s also easy to get caught up in everyday life. This blog is here to remind us of the everyday things we can all do to make the world a little better.
You see, there are a heck of a lot of us living on this planet today, so we tend to knock into each other more than ever before. Every little thing each one of us does these days will impact the lives of so many others. Think about the sandwich wrapper that missed the garbage can on 184th Street today. Whose front stoop will it end up on? Who will pick it up? What landfill will it be sent to? And how many other sandwich wrappers just like it are floating around this city right now? And candy wrappers? Plastic packaging? Cardboard scraps? What about all the bits of gum spit out on sidewalks. All those black spots on the concrete — uh huh — gum. And those are just the ones that didn’t end up on somebody’s shoe or in someone’s hair.
Thinking about things in this way can be a huge burden — or a tremendous opportunity. In truth, it’s both, but I just want to focus on the opportunity right now.
If you come back to OLT, you’ll find a simple new idea every day. For the most part, these are easy things that may take just a few seconds, but you probably haven’t thought about them. Some things don’t take any time at all. You’ll discover new ways of doing everyday things — new ways that remove a little bit of stress from the world around us, the people around us, and ourselves. New ways to make the world a little better — for all of us.
Here’s the deal:
Someone writes ONE LITTLE THING every day.
You read ONE LITTLE THING every week.
We all do ONE LITTLE THING whenever we can.
Who’s in?
